MAF Sensor questions.

I have a 1987 2.8. The car was stalling and I unplugged the maf and now the car runs better than ever. I have two questions.

1. Can I just delete the whole maf circuit?
2. what exactly happens when the maf is unplugged? like what does the ecm see?

Re: MAF Sensor questions.

The maf tells the ecm the density of the in coming air, so something is causing it to tell the ecm false info.
If you don't have a maf, it'll never run right. When its unplugged, it goes into limp mode, alot of fixed parameters.
Any codes?

Re: MAF Sensor questions.

Best thing to do is replace the MAF. No, you can't delete it. Only way to switch to a MAP is to swap harnesses and ECM's with a 90-92 car, and I advise against doing so due to problems with the ignition in the 90-92 harnesses.

DO NOT GET A CHEAP PARTS STORE MAF UNLESS YOU PLAN ON REPLACING IT IN A YEAR OR SO. The Delco ones WILL cost more, but there are differences in sensor construction that make this NECESSARY.
