Supercharged 660
Anyone done it, have info on it, yada yada? After a lot of looking around and reading ive seen a lot on turbos but it doesnt look like theres much on supercharging a 660 anywhere. I realize theres probably more work involved in getting it to work but it would still be nice to see some info that everyone could gain from now and in the future. Thanks

Re: Supercharged 660
The only supercharger that was available for a 660 was an old carbed set up. a quick google search will pull up any info you want on it. Fageol i believe it was.

Re: Supercharged 660
Im not just talking about superchargers that are engine specific really. There are plenty of universal type setups that are adaptable to specific applications. Im just surprised more people dont try centrifugal supercharger setups. Seems like the only ones people try are the eaton M90 style superchargers.
EDIT: Street Lethal, thats exactly what im talking about. lol

Re: Supercharged 660
The M90 just seems like an odd choice simply because of the extra work involved to make it work considering the other options out there.

It's done quite a bit in the FWD 60v6 world, even Marsman's 3400 swapped cavalier was running 11's with a S/C, cam and headers.

Re: Supercharged 660
Yeah ive been looking into it a lot and its really easy with a cost comparable to a nice turbo setup. Thats assuming you buy a nice supercharger and try to do the rest of the work yourself. At least one company even makes a smaller sized version ment to fit better in F-Body and similar cars. Also interesting is that on the 2.8 the recommended supercharger from one company is actually one designed for motorcycles (because of the lower horsepower and so on). The hardest part seems to be the mounting since there arent systems designed for the 2.8/F-Body cars.

There was some guy with a light blue camaro that had an SC on his 3.1. Had it mounted where the alt was IIRC.

Thanks, if you find a link with info on it please share.
Im seriously considering going this route instead of a turbo. The initial cost is a lot higher for the actual supercharger but overall its about the same. On the downside a turbo has benefits other than just power.

Re: Supercharged 660
Im also very interested in supercharging my 88 camaro 2.8l. I havn't done much research on it yet but plan do a lot very shortly. so I guess my main question is where is everyone getting there information from? I am a member of v6z24.com and was wondering if that site could help.

Re: Supercharged 660
If you do some searching you can get most of the info on your won (although it wont be 2.8l specific in most cases). I made this thread hopeing to speed up the process but it didnt help much since theres limited info out there. Supercharging using a centrifugal supercharger is pretty straight forward in comparison to turbocharging imo. The biggest hang up ive found is mounting since there arent any third gen specific kits out there (especially for the 2.8). You pretty much have to fab your own bracket or have one made for you. After that its just a matter of pipeing it all up and depending on how it was mounted working out the belt setup. I found two models that i consider most suitable for the 2.8 but havnt gotten into the nitty gritty to see which would work best in the long run. If yore looking for good info any site/forum dedicated to power adders or supercharging in specific should help. All the essential information is pretty much the same, the installation is where things vary.
