3.1 issues. aggravating.

So my 3.1 RS refuses to cooperate. I've done many many things to it and it still doesn't run right. It has a real hard time cranking sometimes. When its cold, it usually fires right up, but then idles really bad for a few minutes and then it smooths out. But after I've driven it a while, it's a pain to start and will die the second it cranks. It will do this 3-4 times, then finally fire and stay cranked. But here lately its gotten where it will just die while I'm driving, so I have to pull over and crank it back up. Its really annoying. Things I've done to it are, new battery and alternator, new plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, new egr valve, fuel filter, fixed exhaust leak, and some other things. Anyone have any advise on how to resolve this issue???? Thanks.

The check engine light doesnt come on does it?? Could be some dirty injector????? I had a similar issure about a year ago and it turns out one injector was crap, so it would run good sometimes and not at time.

When it doesnt wana start try spraying some starting fluid into the intake, then you can see if its a spark or fuel delivery problem your dealing with. Just a thought though.... If its the fuel system problem, then it could be one of many things, injectors FPR, fuel pump, fuel filter??

Do a fuel pressure test & leak down rate.

Re: 3.1 issues. aggravating.

If it still has the original stock Multec injectors replace them.

You could check the resistance of them hot, should be above 12 ohms. Any lower are no good. But if they are the originals, I wouldn't bother checking them, just replace them.

No the check engine light doesn't come on. And I have replaced the fuel filter, and was told my fuel pump was fine. But I have never messed with the injectors..how can I tell if one or all are bad?

Re: 3.1 issues. aggravating.

Get an ohm meter.
I'd still check the f. pressure.
