OK, Planning period.

I am about to bring my Camaro back to life, as of now it needs:

New fuel tank ~$200

tank sending unit ~$200

fuel pump and strainer ~$100

Not 100% necessary, but it needs a new exhaust from the cat back. ~150-$200

I turned 18 last month and I just got my first job Saturday ( part-time, minimum wage), so it will be a few paychecks before i really get into this.

After I get the car running again, I plan to start modifying it, and seeing as how I'm in the V6 section, I might as well start with the engine.

The 2.8 is a 57,xxx mile original, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Is 300NA HP a reasonable goal for a 3.4 hybrid? I'm ok with a high compression , crazy cam motor. As long as It will run on 93 octane, it will be fine with me. If i wanted a well mannered car I would have traded the thing for a Camry.

We can talk finer points when I get closer to actual engine building, but I just want to be sure I'm headed in the right direction.

Thanks,

-Josh

Re: OK, Planning period.

Did all the 4th gens get the plastic tanks or was it just the LS1's? I read somewhere that only they got the plastic tanks, and that that the older style pumps and sending units aren't compatible with them. If there was an LS1 in my area I would have already grabbed the tank out of it, but the only fourth gen in my area was a base model that had a 3.4 in it.

The fourth gen tanks bolt in, but they aren't plug and play.
