Convert V-belt to serpentine

I want to swap a serpentine belt setup from an '87 or '89 S-10 to my '85 2.8 Camaro. I have searched some, and found out that I have to change the front cover and water pump when I go to the reverse rotation water pump. No problem there. What do I have to do with the wiring for the alternator? Can I just switch the plug, or is there more to it?

Re: Convert V-belt to serpentine

James,
Thanks for the links. I think the first one has the info I needed. I saw that link, I think, but thought it was only for V-8 setups. I guess I should have looked a little closer. I'll find out tomorrow exactly what I have left of the '87 S-10 setup. I know that the '89 is complete.

You might need to change the oil pan too, the part that seals to the timing cover changed around 87-89. The newer ones are more like the sbc in that respect.

Thanks, ex. I'll take a close look at it today.

Re: Convert V-belt to serpentine

ex, you were right about the oil pan. There is a difference in the front of the pan and the bottom of the front cover. Is the rear of the pan the same? I'll be pulling the pan and front cover off of the '87 engine since it's trashed, and I'll be using the brackets and accessories from the '89.
