Oil pressure sending unit, maybe. If so it is missing entirely. I can get under mine and get a picture for you tomorrow if you like.

Odd. These cars never came with a sensor in the oil pan to the best of my knowledge. That is definitely not an oil pressure sensor or switch. Oil would not have a pressure reading in the oil pan. The oil pressure sensor is in the side of the block above the oil filter or on the rear of the block by the distributor. I would say this was aftermarket but because of the indentation of the pan around it this makes me wonder if it was an aftermarket pan? That sensor is most likely either an oil temperature sensor or a oil level switch.

Yes.
Now that I think about it, that is probably an oil pan off a LT1 camaro 93-97. The stock pan probably got damaged somehow and the previous owners got a new pan from a salvage yard. So they probably never wired in the sensor but left it there to plug the hole obviously.

Honestly it looks just like my oil pan, but instead of a normal oil plug you have whats in your pic, just take it out and put a new oil plug in it if you just wana stop it from leaking... just my though on that.

Re: What it this? and why is it leaking?
well if he has a 350 or 305 in his car that might be the case, but seeing how he posted in the v6 section im assuming its not a v8.
that looks like an oil level sensor that they use in the oilpans off the 3.4
so maybe somone swaped a 3.4 into ur car or used the oil pan off a 3.4.
i dont remember if the sensor threads were pipe plug or not but im pretty sure they are, remove the sensor and take it to ur local autoparts place and they should be able to give u a pipe plug that fits in the hole.
just dont remove the plug and drive the car there

just looke dat the picture again, that is deffinatly an 3.4 oil pan, they are deeper then the stock 2.8/3.1 pans and will be very very close to the ex system if used with the 3.1/2.8 ex system

ya, its a 2.8, ill see if i can get under it and just take it off, and put a plug in, would it be worth it to grab an old oil pan from the wreckers? or just leave it as is?
