Re: Turboing V6 Start

All you have to do is go into a autozone or whatever and ask for a belt for a 1982-1992 camaro and get a non A/C belt. Thats what I did and there easy to find, heres one from advanced auto parts.

Re: Turboing V6 Start

wategate? Ok thats fine, thats just the limit for your boost, in order for you to make more boost youll need a boost controler or some sort. But untill you have the tune under control theres no sence in turning it up anyways. I run 12.5psi on average. When I did my build, after about a month and once I sorta knew what I was doing, I got a boost controler and jacked the boost up slowly untill I got to 12psi as I think that is a safe limit to the car on a daily basis..

Always remember its not the boost or anything else that generly wounds the engine, its the tuning that does the damage if not done properly. Thats why the wideband o2 sensor kit and tuning equitment is so important.

Re: Turboing V6 Start

In order to turn up the boost you will need to buy controler or some sort. But I really dont advise you turning up the boost untill you know what your doing as for tuning. I can help with your tuning(files) but still you need to know how to do it also and what to look for when driving the car.

Re: Turboing V6 Start

Its possible but it will be a hard grind to get it there. It took me a little over a month to get the turbo on right. I worked on it about 1-2 hrs every day. Dont rush it if at all possible. Also keep in mind I already did all the cam, head work prior to adding the turbo.

Re: Turboing V6 Start

When I did the turbo build, I was gone from 7-4 each day of the week. Thats why I only got 1-2 hrs a day to play with it. And on the weekends I was usually somewhat busy with the girl frnd. But Its not to hard to pipe the car up once you get the idea of how you want to do it. I bet I did almost all of my welding in 4-6hrs tops with no help except from a friend to hold a pipe here and there so I could tack it.

The most time consuming things are the piping(fabrication), and getting your oil lines(mainly the bung to the oil pan done) Make a check list of what you have to do and make sure it is all right before you think your done. Being in a rush is not a good thing.

I just used all 2 1/2" new exhaust pipe. The thinest guage you can get for the charge piping. I should have used aluminum but I could only weld steel. So thats why I went with steel. Along with some U bends so that you can try to use all manderal bends on the piping. Really Its just creativity and isnt to hard at all if you can weld, grind, and cut metal.

Yea its called a valve stem seal....IIRC. Ask napa for unbrella valve stem seals for a 82-92 Camaro V8(or basically a small block chevy). You have a few extra but they are better then our V6 stock replacements. They cost like 10 bucks or so at NAPA.

Re: Turboing V6 Start

cool, you will need some silicone couplers but really just get some piping from a local exhaust shop and start building the piping. I cant help much with that else then read though Project89 and My thread on turboing on the stickys. That should be good enough to get you going and pipeing it up. Just make sure the turbo is roughly in the same area as either me or project89 turbo build. You must have the turbo higher then the oil pan on the car by a good Ft or 2.

Ive gotta get to bed. Its eastern time here and I gotta work at 6am. Ill get back on tommorow and help as much as I can. Im in the process of getting my alky injection set up on my car finished tommorow but ill be on after work and getting my car up and going.

Jezz man not that cheep, PM Rob about the inject, hes a good guy.

28Lbs ones that he has should last you for a bit, and be a great start for a decent prive. 270 give or take HP out of them. I personally wouldnt get any smaller though or you'll be maxing them out in no time.
