Re: installing the plenum

Im just lost on how adjusting your rocker arms got you from 0 to 140 or whatever psi on a comp check. Thats acting like you valve/s on that cylinder was never closing at all under compression. If the rocker/s were that tight, im amazed that you didnt bend a push rod. And whoever tightened them down over did it soo soo much!! Never heard of that one.

But really the bolts are easy to put back on, no guide but theres about 10 IIRC on the lower then the mid has about the same and the upper has 10 bolts. All 10mm and 13mm ones. Be sure to use the ones that have the washer build on them on the lower intake to the head. Basically just put the bolts into the holes with threads below??? Best way I can explain it. But just be carful to not over tq the bolts or cross thread them as for the most part your bolting into alluminum which those steel bolts will eat up if there not in there right.

Best of luck and mabey someone will chim in with a better explanation.

Re: installing the plenum

Our engines are NON-interference... Except in the cases of the newer 3x00 where the piston actually comes OUT of the block.

The longest bolts go in the lower plenum. There will be 2 medium length ones for the fuel rail (the bolt hole towards the outer edge of the lower plenum goes on the RIGHT and the 2 for the fuel rail on the LEFT), 2 more medium ones for the EGR transfer tube, 2 short ones for the throttle/cruise/TV cable bracket, and the remaining 10 with 10mm heads (actually, 8, the other 2 are studs for the A/C compressor upper bracket if equipped and go in the 2 holes on the front right corner) are for the upper plenum. The 2 bolts with 13mm heads are for the throttle body. They ALL get torqued to about 12-15 pounds. And make sure you get the valve covers tight... The torque spec on those is complete BS.

Re: installing the plenum

I just read this and I thought someone might know; I am about to remove my plenum to fix the fuel pressure regulator. Is that a gasket I see? Do I need to replace it?
