Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
If you feels this yourself sometime like I did yesterday, you only get 2-3 shifts left before the clutch pedal goes limp, find a safe place to pull off quick.
Thats your clutch pedal rod coming off the pedal under the dash, as I assume with time it slowly rocks it way off the end, been 5-7 years since I had it off last, taken all the time to walk itself off, and went right back on with some effort. Dunno why they don't use a cotter pin or something, just a plastic lock clip.

Cut the bushing (cut the retainer tabs off and leave the rest to attach the pedal properly) and find another clip like is on the brake pushrod... They're the same. The clutch will never come apart again until you go to take it apart.

Great idea,
since it came off 2 more times today, would suck during a speed shift.
But just my luck, 27 years and 230,000 miles later, now that plastic clip wears out

Re: Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
That is how the clutch was assembled on the 84 I pulled my pedals out of. Unfortunately, something happened to the bushing along the way and I drove without one for 4 years
. Luckily, I didn't do too much damage to the pushrod. And yes, there is a bushing in it now (the 88 had the clutch assembly fully installed when I got it).

Re: Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
Well I thought I had one, till I crawled under the dash of my 85 S15 parts car, its brake rod not only uses a cotter pin, a beefy hunk of metal bolts over top of that to further lock it on. Would take a tank to make it come off.

Well that brake clip does not fit on mine, the depth is wrong, nearly broke my back trying, where it pshes on easy on the brake rod.
used a washer and a 5/16" E-ring

Re: Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
I probably ought to find my other brake clip and modify mine. It was such a PITA to get that stupid bushing crap pressed into place.
Are you sure that you got the right brake clip? Mine slid on with no issues, and I'm not even sure what year car the pedal set was out of (I got some of the parts from the 84, but the pedal set I ended up using was bought on eBay or somewhere and IDK what year car it came from).

Re: Odd CLICK & POP in the clutch pedal
So far so good, I did put a blob of clear silicone over it, just onthe off chance it might have walked off, the clip wouldn't go MIA on me.
Will test it further when I get a chance to run against fasteddi as either for the past 13+ years ive just imagined I got a little 2.8 that could or I don't
