Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.
I got another new PB, it's only 1/8 mile but I was SUPER IMPRESSED.
Got lots of footage of the car that I will post soon hopefully...
But, 6.81 @ 106 MPH with a 1.69 sixty foot.

So, that is a mid 10 second pass.
Running the full 1/4 on the 22nd this month.
Will have tons of video of the 10 sec pass.
15 psi

Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.
So the 10 second run WON'T happen this year... best is still 6.81 @ 106 (converts to a mid 10)
Last race, I went out to the track for the CSCS season ender... Then "race day" Sunday, they opened the track up but 1/8 mile only.
We usually run a 11.50 index heads up pro-tree class, but due to water at the top end of the track, they ran us 1/8 mile on a 7.33 index.
Vids :
This is a vid of just a burnout, at the end... haha I was pretty proud of this one, just started it in second gear and let her rip.. haha
I dialed her in tight to run 7.40 (about 6-6.5 psi) and ended up taking it.

MOO HA HA HA
So that is all for the year, I have a STACK of timeslips with the 3900, I mean about 8 race weekends, so likely over 100 passes on the thing. Ultra reliable !
Overall impressed with this engine !
Going to stabilize the gas, change the oil, wax the car and store it in the race car trailer till spring. Was a great year.
Might take it out early in the spring, take off all my hotside and get it ceramic coated. OR just wrap it all.
Put the battery back in and go racin !!

Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.
As far as your questions, I have no idea on the MPG, but I can tell you it's VERY good on gas. For sure in the 20's. MPG TH350 with a 3.45 gear is hurting, I should have kept the stock 3.27 gear.
Absolutely no carnage at all, I usually run it at 4 psi (7.5 - 7.6) in the 1/8 mile for my local braket racing series.
it is running a 7730 ECM out of a 91 cavalier V6 tuned with code59.org

Amazing as always. I still cant believe that u can make 7.xx 1/8 mile passes with such little boost. Definitly inspires me to finish my build up soon.

There's a guy on V6Z24 who hit 10s last year with a 3500 so it's definitely doable. Id like my car to get that far but I really need to sort out my gearing first.

Do to a few surgeries, I can't do a change like this myself. But damb if money was no object....I'd do this over a ls3 swap.

Seems lazy out of the hole, and it still ran a mid 10?
I knew I should have got an LZ9 instead of my LX9...

That's ridiculous, makes me want to skip the hybrid swap altogether and just grab the 3900. I don't remember reading it in the thread but did you use the engine with or without VVT?

Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.
Your 1/8th mile trap is 117, takes about 750-RWHP to trap that speed in the 1/8th with a 3200 pound car. Your pushing that much horsepower at only 15-psi?
Edit: My bad, not used to those elaborate timeslips that quote the 1000 foot too lol. Picking up that much mph from 1/8th to 1/4 is very impressive, congrats...

Congrats on your 10 second run you inspire all of us turbo 660 owners. It's amazing that stock bottom can handle that much power.

Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.

car is running great...
won 200$ quarter final last weekend in no box and 100$ for this 11.90 index class last weekend.
weekend before that made it to the final in no box and lost on a .010 redlight, another 300$.
car is making me some cash and running consistent.
quite happy. Supreme Member

Re: 3900 IROC-Z28 buildup.
so this happened a little bit before Haloween last yr, I had just changed the oil, and took it for one last drive to work before I store it for winter, the road was dry, but it still got away on me. Light up the tires around 55MPH and she started to go slideways, I just couldn't save it.
Didn't get hurt at all, was wearing belt.

As you can see I crushed the roof in, and smashed most of the windows... NO DAMAGE at all to the drivetrain, intercooler, nothing. I still drove the car around my yard with the damage, drove mint. haha

And of course, the new shell, 100 000 mi. on it, ULTRA clean. Original TBI 305 solid roof coupe. manual windows. The engine is already pulled and the 3900 will be going in very soon. I will be putting in a 6pt. bar before the spring.

Hey Mars, what did you pay for the lz9 engine?
Sucks that it wrecked but glad you walked away alive. Could have been much worse.
