EDIS 6
Re: EDIS 6
Yeah I know it's Ford. But a very easy system that can be used on numerous engines. It's a way to mount the VR sensor to the 60 degree V6 that I looking for. I don't know anything about DIS.

Re: EDIS 6
make a bracket off 2 of the holes in the front cover to mount the sensor.
how did u mount ur trigger wheel ? and yes the edis system is very simple to use with the megasquirt system
if u would have had a 3.4 engine u could have used the factory dis ignition system with the megasquirt
which megasquirt version are u running and what code?

My trigger wheel is sandwiched between the crank pulley and the damper. It aligns up with the four bolts and the crank pulley bolt keeps it centered. Can post a picture later.
So, your talking about the two bolt area next to the timing cover on the passenger side? That seems the logical place. I have built a MSII. Ver 3.3. Im running the relay distribution board for ease of wiring all the sensors and a wide band IC O2 sensor. Hope to have it running in the next few weeks. Spring in in the air.
What part of Utah? I'm in Layton.

Re: EDIS 6
Ya I'm curious why not just use GM DIS from a 3.4 or FWD V6? There's a bolt-on trigger wheel available and it works with Megasquirt or ECMs.

Re: EDIS 6
Probably didn't know about it, since the EDIS is the go to for the Megasquirt community.

Re: EDIS 6
on a 3.4 engine or any of the fwd 60* engines that have dis the megasuirt will control it as well with just as simple of a hookup
personally i would have have went with the ls1 coil packs and done a cop setup which has a few advantages over both the gm dis and ford edis system in most applications
Re: EDIS 6
I should have come here for my research.
I was already familiar with the workings of th EDIS. Had I known about the LS coil packs or any of the others mentioned. I might have gone that direction
EDIS is super cheap and super available. There's a million wrecked mustangs and exploders out there.
I'd like too know more about the LS coil packs. Not sure if I can reconfigure my MS to accept the changes. Thanks for the ideas though!

Re: EDIS 6
I'm not really sure what trigger wheel you need for CNP on a V6. I was looking into using the stock 3500's 58x trigger wheel with megasquirt for CNP (same trigger wheel as an LS2), but couldn't find much info other than a thread where the guy got it to work but ran into sync issues above 5000 rpm. There are definitely advantages though. IIRC megasquirt can't do a spark-cut rev limiter with either EDIS or DIS.
Plus I don't think all MS units come with the ability to control 6 coils. For now I've just decided a regular ECM is better; more difficult to tune but a more complete engine management system and more cost effective.

iirc a 60-1 wheel will work with cop on a v6 its been a while since i looked at it
any of the megasquirt units can do cop setups u just have to do a lil bit of soldering to do it
Re: EDIS 6
Well, I got it up and running. Just got a muffler on it today. Now to the tuning it part. Thanks for all the advice and ideas. Runs and sounds good. Can't wait to get my driveshaft made and be able to drive it. Just in time for winter. Go figure...
