How do I disconnect Harness from Fuel Injector on 2.8
How do I disconnect Harness from Fuel Injector on 2.8
The question says it all...
I got the top end apart. I just need to disconnect the harnesses from the injectors.
What is the trick? I know it's simple if you know...
Thanks,

Have to admit, that's an injector connector I've never seen before. Looking at the picture I'd say that the small metal clip needs to be removed. The clip can be seen at the base of the connector. A thin screwdriver to pry it off?

It will be the same as other conectors. The metal clip will be on the side that is away from the camera.

Unless the clip is missing. Then who knows how the PO kept it in place.

I will just have to work at it without destroying them.
I may have to get a bigger hammer.
However, I will let you all know once I do...
I took several photos of the process. So maybe I can piece together a tutorial on an intake gasket or valve cover gasket change...

Re: How do I disconnect Harness from Fuel Injector on 2.8
Here is the more common injector connector and retaining clip. The green arrow shows where the clip is under the small plastic nub. The nub is on the injector and is what prevents the connector from exiting the injector..
By pushing in on the clip at the red arrow, the clip gets spread and clears the nub. Note above the green arrow the wedge shape that will spread the clip.
Until I saw the first picture, this is the type of injector connector I would have expected.

Ouch, I see no easy way to remove those connectors. The clip wraps completely around the connector. So can't even pull it straight off.
If there is enough room between the clip and the retaining nub on the injector, maybe a small screwdriver or pick could be used to pry the clip fee of the nub. But, likely need to do both sides at the same time.

watch ur eyes as those style clips go flying when u pry them off
pry the short side of the connector clip were it wraps around the connector body
it helps to cover it with a rag as much as u can while prying so u dont loose the clip, to reinstall the connector put the clip back on the connector and then just push the connector back onto the injector to lock it in place
Re: How do I disconnect Harness from Fuel Injector on 2.8
The plugs are off the injectors!!! I used a very small jewelers screwdriver to pry the clip on the side. I was super careful.
I actually have the fuel rail apart. I got the F#@D injectors to replace the ones I took out. I got them at JY for $10 for 7 of them... They all read 16.9-17.0 on the multimeter.
Thanks for your help with this..

Re: How do I disconnect Harness from Fuel Injector on 2.8
I got the F@RD injectors installed on the rail. I changed the valve cover gaskets, too.
It's together, but I still have to prime the fuel system. Turn the key on-off a few times, right? And check for leaks...
Then do final assembly...
Will let you know...
