Brake pcm problem?

So 1991 camaro rs 3.1 today me and my teacher were checking the real times on my car with an aldl connector and computer. Something pretty odd happened when I said lets check the brake booster for vacuum leaks. (hit brake while running) the aldl cut out said no connection. We retested 5 times. I hit the brakes and my pcm (?) Cuts out. Top of that my brake lights only work when the nighttime lights are off. (head lights and such) so idk where to even start on this one ><

Re: Brake pcm problem?

get under the dash and look to se if the pedals are rubbbing on any wires

second thing to do would be to disconect the brake light switch on the pedal and see if that makes a difference

Re: Brake pcm problem?

i've seen something odd like this before... ALDL communications would quit from shifting out of park.

take a good look at grounds.

So I tested a little bit. Ground for the lights / brake switch are fine. Odd though I have 12.7 volts going into the switch and 11.5 coming out.

Re: Brake pcm problem?

Did you test the voltage going in when you pressed the brakes? You'll likely find that it will be very near the same 11.5V. If it's not, then replace the switch.

Volts stayed at 12.7 but a high resistance switch won't cause my pcm to mess up would it?
