trouble starting 86 2.8 after rebuild
my 16 year old son and i have embarked on an adventure. we bought an 86 2.8 camaro it has been in a barn for 20 years realy good shape. we replaced all gaskets and rod and main bearings. new fuel filter and in tank pump. when we try to start it it fires for about 3 seconds this can be done for 3 or 4 time then nothing just crank but no fire if we let it set it will fire for 3 seconds again. the car has only 65000 miles on it. if any one has any ideas thanks. We are going to ohm injectors next also oil pressure at back of intake.

starting fluid, if it will not run on that, you have bad spark or timing.
if it does run then dies, you have a fuel problem.

Try the starting fluid or just spray some gas in the intake with a spray bottle. I like gas much better. If it starts then its a fueling issue(probley)
Check for a ces light or even go over the timing and make sure you did it right when you set the dizzy back up. If its not right when your first put it back together, your valves sequence could be 180*s off.
