on to the next problem

alright so i'm going to keep it simple.
92 firebird 3.1

loooong list of issues of that have slowly been narrowed down.
just finished installing new lifters, gave them the proper break in treatment bla bla blahhhh

heres the link to the previous thread.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...3-1-could.html

now moving on!

car ran okay, drove it down the road a bit... all was ok.

suddenly! starting idling weird and sounding like it had a cam in it when it does not.(obviously i mean its still stock cammed)

soo... i noticed the fuel pump was staying on after i turned the key off. said okay.. lets test it.. sat in car.. literally drank alot of beer and had a party in a parked firebird hooked up to the battery charger jammin.. sure enough 3 hours later the fuel pump came on again. replaced the oil switch(by the oil filter).

that was fixed and even noticed that the oil pressure gauge is accurate now, dosent just sit in one spot and is now consistent with acceleration, etc.

sooo i tested fuel first. FPR is bad. fuel in vac line. pressure builds to 80psi at key on prime then slowly but steadily drops like a champ. when engine running it stays around 80psi.

heres a video of initial problem.. (excuse the retardedness.. was drinkin)(didnt feel like re-recording)

btw.. best way to describe the problem... idles low, sounds like a cam OR it will idle high around 1500-2000. throttle response is on point(now that the liters are okay) so theres no stumbling or stalling when getting on it.)

now the video of tests...

basically.. wtf direction should i move next? feel free to drop a comment or advice and ill let you know if ive done it or can do it. THANK YOU!

ignition is good at all wires(by ignition indicator light)
timings at 13-14* something btdc est unplugged so on and so on
check the previous thread for extra info

Re: on to the next problem

looking for a fuel pressure regulator, seems like the local parts stores only have the rebuild kits for around $60-70 bucks. suggestions?

Re: on to the next problem

If your fuel pressure is indeed 80 PSI, the first thing you should be worried about is the blockage between the center port under the regulator diaphragm and the fuel return in the gas tank. That is the only thing that can make the fuel pressure so high. Then, you will need to replace the ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm, which ruptured because it couldn't handle the pressure.
