oil pan bolt sizing urgent!!
oil pan bolt sizing urgent!!
Can anyone seem to find any oil pan bolts I have an 87 firebird manual with the v6 engine. I've looked everywhere online and in my Haynes manual and cant find a replacement bolt setm would anyone know what size bolts I would need i ruined a few changing the oil pan gasket and I've tried regular bolts with the sizing for a small block gm and they didn't fit. This is my last effort to find out where I can get some or what size they are. If this info is needed it had a mixture of studs and bolts before. 2 larger bolts for the rear and 10 more smaller bolts. Please let me know any info would be much appreciated I just need to get the oil pan back on.

The smaller bolts will be m6, but don't recall the thread pitch, and the larger studs will be m8, again I don't recall the pitch.
Re: oil pan bolt sizing urgent!!
For some reason I used the same size for all my bolts when taking them out I'll have to check the size. I matched the bolts with other bolts that were 5/16 x20 or 28 something like that but for some reason they don't work the threads appear to be the same but I could be wrong. I've check every home improvement store just to even find the size so I can just put regular bolts back in I don't need the studs. Checked for replacements online and it was a dead end. Its like no ones ever changed the bolts before.

M6x1.0 by either 12 or 16mm and M8x1.25 by the same length... NO SAE HARDWARE ON THE 60* V6 unless it was rethreaded!
And you do need the studs for the front 2 holes unless you plan on having the harness just hanging there where it could rub up against the crank damper
. They hold the C-shaped bracket on there that the wire harness clips to to keep it from flopping.
