3500 swap and prep for turbo

Hi
I plan swapping a 3.5 v6 with a turbo set up later on in firebird and have couple of questions

Do I need to upgrade any engine internals (pistons, rods, valves, etc) or will a water meth injection system work?

Twin 3582r or a single 4088 turbo?

I want make about 450 500 + hp @10 + psi and be totally streetable and reliable. I would like to be able to swap the engine in, figure out the tuning process on the N/A engine, and then put the turbo set up on and not have to pull the engine back out.I plan to run a wot stage 2 turbo cam. I've done light research about using 305 forged pistons but havent seen anyone use them in a build yet or if it is even need.

Thanks

Re: 3500 swap and prep for turbo

I'm running about 10 PSIG (intercooled) on a completely stock bottom end 3500.

The only "internal" changes I have made was to aftermarket valve springs, because the stock springs are known to be very weak.

I plan to push this as far as I can on stock internals, and from what I've seen of other people's attempts the 3500 will take a LOT of abuse. The key is a good tune.

What he said. I have run 10psi in my bone stock 2.8, with a one time boost spike to 15psi, for 7 months with no problems. I have turned mine down to 6psi cause the turbo is inefficient at 10psi plus the trans doesn't like it too much. I am also intercooled.

It will be. I haven't gotten one yet . I'm shooting to get a 2004 or 2005 engine . I'm thinkin I should try to get a low mileage motor since I prob won't be doing any major internal work now.

Thanks

3.5 lx9 I am guessing and not 3.5 lz4

any thought of doing an lz4 or lz9 instead?

A single turbo will get you your goal no twin setup neaded
