Battery post's corrosion Problem?

I have a v6 3.1 and every once in a while, I have to change the battery posts because the corrosion doesn't let the electricity flow. A big crust of corrosion forms on both post's. I'm wondering what could be causing this problem? I had the batt and alternator checked at the autoparts store and they said it was good but im starting to think its the alternator. Any clue?

Re: Battery post's corrosion Problem?

clean posts and connections well , remove all corrosion . I like to use a small wire brush (like a USMC tooth brush) available at most dollar stores . then a light coat of di-electric grease to all surfaces . apply with a small brush , tubes of this grease available at any auto parts store . store brushes and remainder tube of grease in a zip-lock bag for future use . also good for use on bulb & sockets . should take care of your problem . good luck .

Re: Battery post's corrosion Problem?

if you have a battery with caps you should ck. water level every couple of weeks . water level should cover the top of the plates . to top off a cell use distilled water . to not keep water level covering top of plates is not good for battery . batteries that are ignored tend to LAST FAST . good luck .
