JET performance chip
I have a 92 Firebird with a 3.1 V6. Panning on getting a stage 1 JET performance chip. Anyone have any experience? Could you feel a difference or increase of power or gas milage?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: JET performance chip
Ok. I had a race recently and lost by half a car and didnt know if it would help make up for it. I was gonna do JET chip, cold air intake, tires, plugs and wires.

No it will not. Your car makes about 140HP max. A CAI might add one or two but it will sound better. Plugs and wires are not going to give you over 140HP they will maybe get you back to 140 but not over. Decent tires might help but IIRC my friends 92 3.1L auto did not have any trouble launching.
You best best for spending is to give it a full tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter and clean out the throttlebody.

Re: JET performance chip
The chip won't do much. Thelse engines are hard to squeeze hp out of. Cam p and p the heads. Custom tuning, Headers. Nitrous turbo or hybrid swap. Those things will make a noticeable and sometimes major difference
Things like a Cai or wai, cat back exhaust, plugs wires, underdrive pulleys, mail order chips, won't do much of anything at all.

Re: JET performance chip
Even if you stay N/A, a catback with headers will do some good. A big bottle neck is that intake manifold too. Porting that woke mine up above 4500 RPM.
As everyone else has stated already, do the maintenance stuff first. You can't build upon anything if you have a crappy baseline to start with. I had gone quite a ways with mine N/A, wish I hadn't pulled it for a V8........

Re: JET performance chip
If its in your budget def look into a hybrid swap with a turbo its what fasteddie runs and what im in the process of building if not in your budget then look at cam headers and porting a 260 grind cam is a good place to start anything larger then you will need to tune your ecm which shouldnt be to hard because u have a map car.
