Nos?

What engine modifications would I need to make to my 87 2.8 w/ 115,000 miles capable of handling nitrous?

if it were my car i wouldn want to take any chances, i would reuild the motor and put forged pistons in it and the best valves you can find for your car, and dont go more than .040 over then your cylinder walls start to get thin. youll also have to find a place to mount your nos and fuel solonoids, and fabricate an inlet to your plenum where the nitrous and fuel can enter effectivly and atomize with the incoming air.

if im wrong please feel free to correct me

Have you had your car Dynoed, you look to have some nice mods on there, I was wondering if you knew the power you were making?

ok, i guess you guys took it wong, i dont have nos on my thats jsut what i would do. car but here is DeadHero's (my car)story. i got him when i was 15 as my first car my pop and i put a clutch in it and before i ever got it on the road we spun a bearing. not knowing anything at all about cars my dad helped my pull the motor. we then bored it got new pistons (.040 stock flat top type), had he crank machined, bought a 204 214 cam (blue racer) had the heads rebuilt and the intakes ported. my dad and i then put the motor back together and back in my car(all done over winter), just in time for me to get my license in march at age of 16. i drove it for a year and a half before i decided to fully restore the car. so i gutted him. its almost completed ripped apart, engine trans rearend most of the suspension, the only thing still intact is interior front control arms and wiring harnes. before doing all this my pop and i figured we were making somewhere around 200hp but we dont know for sure. we didnt know of any places in western mass that have a dyno for measuring horsepower. i dont have the money to finish putting him back together now because im only 18 (19 in march) and still in college(for automotive technolgy) while working at a local dealership. ive got big plans for him though probably 10gs worth. every one tells me to just drop a 350 in it but i dont think so, i mean how embaresing will it be for a guy with a 350 to get absolutly burried by us 60* guys. ive rambled a lot and still not gotten to the point. i talked to one company and they said that the last set of forged pistons they made were like 650 plus you gotta figure 200 for all you gaskets and bearing to rebuild it and around 550 for a good nitrous kit, so your lookin at like1400 bucks. plus you need a place to do it

My thoughts exactly. I am wanting to eventually restore my 'bird, and have the most ***-kickin' v6 in these parts I've got a few friends with 97 and 98 TA's and I'd like to show 'em up with a v6.

I am thinking I want an awsome V-6, but I would not use the 2.8 or 3.1 to start with, there nice engines, and tough as nails, but it takes alot of work to get HP out of them. What I would say to do is drop the 3.4 in your car, your then already up to 160hp and 200 ft/lbs. And besides Ked can help you out on this project.

And just think if you slipped cam in there and a set of roller rockers, and maybe ever roller lifters, you would probably be close to 185-200 hp... I was thinking about tuning the 2.8, but it I would have to do a rebuild, and by the time I sunk 500 into the engine, I might as well add the couple hundred more and get the 3.4.
