Installed Jet Stage II chip

got it in the mail early today... i installed it in like 10 mins, fired it up.. i am very happy with it... it definatly added power at all rpms, was quick and easy to install, i can definatly feel the power increase, if it were compared to another mod, say like a k&n filter+cold air the chip would be 3x beter( performance wise) (not price wise)
overall if you can get one of these chips for cheap, to me they are worth it.

anyone else have a chip? did you knotice the engine sounding different? mine seemed to sound louder/better... but i can smell the exhaust fumes are a little worse, for emmissions ill just replace it(with stock) if i need to
i wanted my exhaust done b4 the chip but i havent found the perfect kit yet... tomarow i might install my 160* thermostat. got the gasket and all that fun stuff...

so my car is 10 years old... happy B-day to all 3rd gens

I have had a Hypertech Thermo Chip for about 5 years now and I really like it. When I first got my car, the wheels would hop when I punched it down. I had someone install the chip and the tires would spin instead. I think they are worth the money.

Get a 180 instead. you'll like it better and so will your car. its not THAT far off stock(195) and you can still have heat and defroster when you need it. And if nothing else your car's ECM can get out of "full enrichment" mode while driving so you will burn less gas. I had a 160 for 2 months and had alot of problems with it, yes the car stayed nice and cool during the summer but I also noticed worse MPG's. Close to 15 miles per tank, maybe more. Then we had a cold flash for 2 weeks and I was hurtin for some heat!. Next weekend it came out and the 180 went in and have been alot happier.

I use a 160 all during the spring/summer, go into closed loop, and have heat- it depends on where you live. I put the 195 back in for winter, though!

Plus, GTRick, I thought the 3.1's had an o-ring, and not a gasket, for the thermostats?

You will need the O ring i spent 15 mins arguing with pep boys over that first time i did the ststat they sold me the gasket and i took the oring out origonaly the gasket leaked. Just say i need a Oring not a gasket and they can match it up to the T stat

Even though it might say 160 thermo you can run 195, or 180. Buy the cam over the chip though for real pwoer.

The stat that is stock works fine with the jetchip stage II, I had it in my maro, and no problems. The only thing is that I knoticed is that it is a lot more rough when it comes to idleing with the chip. NO worries, it didn't seem to do anything bad. Go for the dynomax catback..its cheap and it kicks ***. Then best for the V6.

The GM and CRANE 2030 cams are the only ones I know will work with the computer. Wolverine will not work with the CPU. The GM cam for our cars is just as nice and I think Crane makes that one too.

Actually Crane makes the GM Performance Cam. GM buys them wholesale marks them up 400 percent and gives it a different part number. The 2030 cam by Crane IS THE STOCK cam in the 3.4 However. Go fig
But someone mentioned before, "If" you buy the "GM Performance" cam it can be serviced and installed by GM dealers. Well Personally I would not want to pay Dealer Labor rates when any good performance mod shop could do it for half of that, and stand by it with a related parts warranty. I also think someone tried to say it(GM Performance cam) can be serviced under warranty. I do not know about you guys but I think my cars warranty went south many years ago!.

Letmie go fiond my gm cat....

It only has 1 cam for the 60 deg motor. You have the "performance" cam and you may still be able to get the stock cam. The 60* family as you know is the 2.8-3.1-3.4 any and all parts are interchangeable between the three, though with the cranks you have to be weary of the one you get cause they have different strokes.

But yes thats it.

I would get the Crane one...at least 30 bucks cheaper and the exact same cam....

AGH, if you are going to toss 159 away on a chip hold off another month or two and save more money to buy and get a cam installed.

One cam is woth , a chip, pulleys, K&N, ignition mods and possible an exhauset in HP gain.

actually I am going to blow about 350 on chip burning stuff... thats when I get the $$$ for it anyway. But then again I will have the "Live" interface with the ecm and real time info to base the changes on before they become perminate. So to those that live around me this will be a good service. That way you KNOW the chip will work like it should and it WILL be tuned to YOUR car not a generic BIN.

and as 89camaroRSV6 can attest who has ridden in my car I barely have anything done to it(basically the intake and the slight port polish) but in his words "Rips". I think the severe jolt going into 2nd impressed him... LOL

yeah i can definitely vouch for camaro_hunter...
man his car does "rip" shift ... he can burn tyre in any gear
damn i wish i could do that
i wont be surprised if one of this days he blows away a TPI 305 lol
he might just do it
and
camaro_hunter... can ya look at tge 2030 crane cam adn see if it really is better ... cos looks like my stock cam has more exhaust lift than that cam...

that cam has a lift of .423/.423

i might be wrrong here
looks like my stock cam has a higher lift

I think it has more to do with duration(How long it stays open). But I think stock is less then .423. I will look in my book though.
