Got a new E.T.

Since the cold weather came around I guess I got alittle bit faster. This was with EVERYTHING I had as a driver. I shifted as fast as my arms could throw it. 17.1 @ 86mph. I dunno how good the numbers match up but I didn't have hardly any wheel spin and I didn't bog down either. Damnit, I so wanted a flat 17 but after that run my numbers just went up. So I gave up on the 17. Hey Im happy with a 17.1. Too bad my car is slower than Ovrclck350's was. He ran a 17.0 in an Auto!!!! w/ hardly any mods. My car is slow. I wish it was faster. I guess I should learn how to shift. My granny shifting isn't working.

It must feel pretty weird going from a 12.8 second car to a car that does 17.1?

BS on that 12.8 too. LT1's don't run 12.8 with just a chip and a muffler. LT1's are 14 second cars.
I've driven an LT1 Bird with a muffler, chip, plus an @ssload more mods and it was not even CLOSE to a running a 13.0.

Maybe the previous owner modified the car??

P.S. I hate LT1's.

Most LT1's around here have full exhausts from headers back, allt he ECM reprogramming crap, strut tower braces and every other piece that can come in red, and they still run 14's...

I love that LT1. LOL its suprises you guys as much as LS1 guys. And uhh yea I got alittle bit more work than a muffler and a chip that is just a saying. Actually I dont even have a perf chip in it. Hmmmm, next mod maybe Anyways yea I am pretty happy about the V6 getting that. I jumped from a 17.4 to a 17.1 with nothing but better driving, Kool! Im still stuck on what the next mod should be. What about if I go to a junk yard, get some 3.4L heads, put new valve springs in them and get aftermarket rocker arms???

You can get some 3.1 heads(same as 3.4), as a matter of fact I think all FI 2.8's also have the same valves as the 3.1/3.4 heads. This would be nice step if you did the heads along with a 2030 cam at the same time.

Lt1's will run 13's with a catback and intake on street tires, and I know Monkie has some heavy duty upgrades on his car.

I can say a LT 1 with a Borla cat back, borla y-pipe, no converter and K&N FIPK and MSD ignition can run 13.1-13.4 with bigger tires in the rear, I do not know what size but 275 45 sounds right. Now when he tossed on the 1.6 roller rockers, valve guides and mezzimenger water pump he ran 12.8. He also tossed his borla for a flowmaster that dumped right at the passenger side.

My LT1 has most of the bolt-ons, headers/exhasut, gears, converter. It ran 8.5 in the 1/8th mile on street tires, which is equal to a 13.1-13.2. With some ET streets it will hit 12.9's I'm sure.

That's another reason that when I unpack my GTech, I'll never post it's 1/4 mile time- the book says since it's more "accurate", the 1/4 mile time will be quicker than if you went to a racetrack. That might be great, but EVERYONE goes to the racetrack, not everyone has a Gtech- I'll stick with the "standard" racetrack timing eyes.

Oh- and reaction time doesn't affect 1/4 mile time. You could sit at the light for 5 minutes after the tree goes green, and then run the 1/4, and your time will still be normal. Of course, the pit guys might try pushing your car off by then, figuring it's broken!

Are you selling it just because of the mileage? It sounds fast enough.
