Fuel Lines Now...

92 V6. Just put a brand new Bosch fuel pump in, and it's priming the fuel system great. So great in fact, that it showed me where the hard line is rusted through. It's in the section after the rubber hose on the feed line, but before the fuel filter. Can anybody tell me if the V8 and the V6 lines are the same, and if this is what I need to order?

Edit: It's in front of the fuel filter, not the pump like previously stated.

Re: Fuel Lines Now...

So, Hawks says that it is only for the V8, they don't have any for the V6 (fuel lines). Are they actually a different size? If they are, does anyone know what size line and fittings (those are rusty too) I need to get for bending up a new fuel line? If I'm going to do it, I'm going to replace the feed and return lines running the entire length of the car. Or would I be better off running braided fuel hose the entire length? I'm not unfamiliar with having to double flare lines, but I don't want to spend a fortune fixing this issue.

Re: Fuel Lines Now...

You can do a repair kit depending how long of line you need.

Re: Fuel Lines Now...

I was looking at those, but I think I need to replace the whole line, it looks like rust was able to form on more rust. I was able to identify that the line is the same between the V6 and the TPI cars. 3/8" feed line. The fittings are M16x1.5, I'm just not sure if the fitting is the same at the fuel rail, but I think so.

Re: Fuel Lines Now...

I can look at the lines from my 1992 V6 Firebird, but I am almost positive it's the same as the TPI V8 lines

Re: Fuel Lines Now...

I'm not saying to "hack" it, but if you just need to get back on the road (DD), replace the run with rubber line and clamps, and used clips or zipties to pin it up alongside the stock lines.
I looked at a 4th gen with a buddy a few months ago. The guy selling it claimed it ran, but couldn't prove it because he had hacked a rusty section out of the fuel lines and hadn't gotten around to replacing it. $12 in rubber fuel line and 4 clamps (two per side) and we had it running enough to take a test drive. Fuel line is rated for quite a bit of pressure (150# or more in most cases). The risk is road damage, not bursting.
