Code 33 map circuit, low vacuum
Why am I now getting a code 33 map circuit low vacuum detected if my 1988 2.8 is maf? Everything I've read says this doesn't have a map sensor, though some people argue the point.. so if I do, where is it? I just installed. New maf from jegs, a walkers product maf.. and though the car was running good before for the most part.. it instantly felt better and smoother.. but within 30 seconds the light came on, as soon as I turned on the ac actually. Any helps appreciated as always. Thankyou
Update: ok I found it... Not sure what the vacuum problem is yet but I most definitely do have a map sensor
Update 2: so apparently, as with other threads I've researched on here, it's an EGR vacuum solenoid.. although it looks almost identical to a map sensor.. the problems are.. 1. Why the f*$@ does it give me a map sensor code then? 2. I can't find this part anywhere online to purchase.. seems nearly impossible.. so what do I do? 3. There very well might not be a problem with the sensor to begin with, and could be a vacuum leak somewhere as it says.. but I have looked and inspected every line I see,and replaced most of them since I bought the car. I didnt ever get this code until I just replaced the maf, and once again, like I said.. it purs.. runs sweet and doesn't miss a beat.. except for the fact it's a 2.8 and a freight train would give me a run for my money (true worthless fact, I'm a loco engineer and I bet with only a newer locomotive and no cars, I would win to 45 or 50) lol.... Ok so, the whiskey's kicking in and I give up for the night.. any additional info is always appreciated...this forum has been awesome so far for help.thankyou

You maf code 33 could be caused bye a wiring issue. Bad relay or ecm. You should get a fsm and follow the flow chart.
I haven’t downloaded it but this might help.

Ok. So.... I apologize for being a dummy ,but what's a fsm? It definitely wouldn't surprise me being a wiring issue. Just bought the car,and though it runs and drives perfectly it seems, keep running into little things like this.. just replacing parts as I go, but the previous owner definitely had some shady stuff going on

Factory service manual, a book by helm
This is a cheap priced one that should work with your 2.8l
The 2.8 used the same ecm for 86-89
