I have absoulutely no idea. I got under there, located everything, and even after reading how to do it, was completely lost
The Throttle Valve is a valve in a non-computer controlled transmission.
In order for the transmission to shift properly, it has to know what the engine is doing. Here's where the cable comes into play. The cable is located on the Throttle Body. When you press the gas,the throttle plate opens and the cable pulls on a valve inside the transmission and essentially lets the tranny know what speed the engine is at in order to shift at the proper shift points. If the cable is streched or needs adjustment, the car won't shift right.
Here is the link to the tech article for adjusting theTV cable: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/detent.shtml

well, what happend was I replaced the 2.8 with a 3.4 block, changing all parts over from the 2.8. After I posted this message i looked around and found out what it was and how to fix the TV cable. Are you sure it is for all non-computer controlled cars? I was able to locate everything they were talking about.
I didn't say non-computer controlled cars......I said non-computer controlled transmissions(All thirdgens have non-computer controlled transmissions).
A computer controlled transmission will usually have a solenoid that controls shift points thus eliminating the TV and TV cable.

My 89 Vette had the same problem. I had to adjusted the TV cable about 10 times to shift how I wanted it too. I did not hear any clicks but felt the clicks.

Btchin, you should've heard clicks as the cable pulled out of the adjuster. The cable should only be sticking about 1/4-1/2" out of the adjuster in the front.
