tranny is dead

My auto tranny just died on me and I think my 2.8L engine is on its last leg 220 000 kms. I was thinking since you have to take out the engine and tranny what would be the best/ cheapest/ easiest replacements to put in their spots.

The cheapest thing to do is call TA creations, buy a 3.4 that is running with around 40-50K miles on it. Cost 450ish, then buy the tranny for them too, 2-500ish and toss them in. Gain power and less miles for a cheap fix.

Ouch, sorry to hear about the trans; I've had mine die twice already. I replaced the last one myself; I didn't have to pull the engine out. I just dropped the trans out from below.

What kind of car does this 3.4L come out of?
Do you need a new wiring harness/ECM?

Crazy Firebird Kid Yeah I got some bad luck bt the good way of looking at it is I have got to try many different camaros:

84 Camaro 350 Carb 3spd auto (Rebuilt the tranny only to have it stolen a week later)

89 Formula Firebird 305 TPI 5 speed

89 Iroc G92 305 5 speed (took me forever to find this car only to have thieves take 3 weeks after I got it and torch it)

I have a friend from BC, he just has a 4 door, and his stereo has been stolen twice. You guys must have some crime rate out there...lol.

I would be some pissed if someone stole my IROC. Today I saw an Iroc-Z I could have punched the guy, there is like 3 inches of slushy salt mixed snow on the road and he is driving that car through it....

The 3.4 comes out of a '93-'94 (4th gen) Camaro/Firebird. 95-up V6 4th gens are all 3.8's, and I think a few late-in-the-year '94's have 3.8 V6's (which aren't a drop-in install).
