T5 swap.

Want to t5 swap my 3.1 auto. Looking at buying this t5 v8 from a 87 Iroc which would be a Non WC. I know its weaker but dude claims it' was working great. Being the v8 model how will the ratios match up with my rear (3.23) and my powerful 3.1. Would it be a good driver? Is there a clutch that will fit the v8 splines but for v6?

Probably be dog slow and lots of slipping of the clutch to take off. The V6 T5 had something like a 4.03 first gear, whereas the V8 T5 has a 2.95 first.

Re: T5 swap.

I also believe the input shaft is different (size / less teeth) on the V8 T5 vs V6 T5....
So you would need to get one from a V6 car...

Anyone know for sure?

Re: T5 swap.

Yeah, the clutch spline count is different, bellhousing, gearing, blah blah blah... Much easier to just find a V6 T5 setup anyway.
