V6 INTALE GASQUET

hey there every one was wondering if anyone has cut the tabs off the v6 lower intake to head gasquets do to not wanting to pull off the pushrods and having to readjust valve lash (and i now it says do not cut)

Am thinking of doing it and ill post on how it goes for me but I believe that it won't hurt anything due to it not actually sealing anything

I've seen it done dozens of times. Doesn't mean it's OK, but it didn't seem to cause problems.

Re: V6 INTALE GASQUET

Whenever I see a situation such as this I'm left wondering , why would the manufacturer go to the trouble of specifically stamping "do not cut" into it if there was no risk of problems with cutting it ? In other words , what does the manufacturer know that we don't ? Could the cut somehow cause the gasket to prematurely deteriorate or migrate out of position ? I doubt they made it that way to intentionally be a PIA WRT removing the pushrods to install the gasket , so there could be a good (unknown to us) reason for it .

..... Course , for all we know the good reason may be to help keep the gasket from bending out of position during the install , and for all we know it may work just fine when cut if it stays put while being installed .

Re: V6 INTALE GASQUET

i did it. and then i blew a head gasket. now it probably had more to do with the fact that i ran too much boost and didn't put in head studs but it didn't help either.
