Who said their car stalls or almost stalls when they come to a stop? I couldn't find anything... Well, my car almost stalls out when I stop at a light or stopsign. What gives?
No one suggestion is wrong.
So many little things can cause these Fuel Injected cars to flake out.
Vacuum must be perfect, so to ignition strength.
Good gas, also helps.
Maybe got a batch of bad stuff.

It could also be a bad MAF sensor. Unplug the 3-wire connector, and "hang" it away from the fan belts & fan. Start the car- it'll stall it's first time. Start it again- it'll run. Now go for a drive and see if you stall out anymore.

No check engine light here...
I don't think I've got a batch of the bad stuff because it's been doing this for a good while. Fuel Injection is so touchy
I'll try that, Tom, when my sis comes home from school with it
I'll keep ya posted on that...
Oh, may be onto something with that ingition thing... the lights also dim when that happens. I've noticed when I let of the brakes and there is less current draw, the light will come back up, but to to full power until I hit the gas and get the alt. going again.

It was me, i think
Hey guys,
Black 86 bird, i may be the guy your talking about, i posted something about this on the V6 board a while ago but more recently on the tech/engine board. this is what i wrote:
"Hey guys, I have a 86 Camaro with 2.8 fi and auto trans and my service engine light has been goin on so i took it to get the code read. the mechanic said it was the MAF sensor so i took another MAF sensor out of my parts car and put it in there but the engine light would still come on randomly. Something ive noticed is that the car runs much better when the light is on. on cold mornings it will start up and idle strong when the light is on and when the light is off it will take 4 tries to get the car started. Also when the light is not on the car will run rough when im at a stoplight and sometimes stall out when the light turns green and i push the gas down slightly. This has been a problem for a while and is really annoying! If you have any ideas please respond! thanks!"
TOMP~ I unplugged the sensor and the Engine light goes on when im stopped, but when i start moving it goes off. The car also stalls sometimes tho when it is disconnected.
EDIT: Black 86 bird, i just read your last post over again and my car does the same thing with the dimming lights when brakes are applied. does this mean its an ignition problem?
