Part identification

Bit of a dumb question I haven’t found an answer to, but what part of the engine is this? (Circled) Engine in question is the 2.8l V6. It is near the bottom on the driver’s side.

Re: Part identification

That is your oil pressure sending unit/switch. The sending unit portion is for the oil pressure gauge, and the switch portion is for the fuel pump.

Re: Part identification

Thanks so much! Engine has been leaking oil on to the exhaust manifold around there so looks like getting to the bottom of that will be my weekend project

Re: Part identification

Bringing this thread back to ask another question about the pressure sensor: do you need to drain the oil before changing it to prevent it from spilling everywhere?

thanks for answering all my newbie questions

No draining required, unscrew the old one, a few drops of oil may come out, and then screw in the new one. Do NOT overtighten it, lest you break the aluminum housing it screws into.
