Severe oil leak

For some context, I installed a new oil pressure sensor on my car (1987 Firebird base trim with the 2.8l v6) with no problems. However, when I turned the car on, it sprayed oil everywhere under the car and all over the bay around the filter. Turns out there was a small crack where the sensor screwed in. I’m stumped on how to handle this. Any advice on what to do next?

That piece is bolted onto the engine, and is not a cast in part of the block. It can be unbolted and replaced.

Oh that’s good news, probably would’ve been the end of the project for me if I managed to blow the block. What’s a good name for the part when I’m searching for a replacement?

Re: Severe oil leak

Generally it's called the "oil filter adapter" or "oil filter housing" and there is one for sale right now on EBay for $50.

The general disclaimer applies, I have no affiliation with the EBay item whatsoever, it's just the first one that fits that turned up in my search........

Re: Severe oil leak

Thanks so much! I’m gonna continue looking around but this has definitely put me on the right track. I also stumbled across this eBay listing by JC Whitney, do you think this is an option too? Doesn’t look the same to me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12427530585...mis&media=COPY

Also I have attached some pictures of the problem area.

Re: Severe oil leak

Your welcome, and no, the one you found won't fit, that one is for the front wheel drive 3.8 engine and is not the same as your 2.8 RWD.....

Alright sweet, you are a lifesaver man! I’ll be ordering the parts once I have everything accounted for.
