Timing Problem

Axle/Gears: 3:42 spooled 10 bolt
Timing Problem

how do i set the timing on my 1991 3.1 RS?
is there a bolt ot turn or a button to push or what?
please tell me how to do it

or is it factory preset?

When you're at trash auto, open the shop manuals on the floor and look for the clues, distributor hold down bolt placement and where pointer is and what to disconnect.
Highly doubt the timing is off, tho.
It's hard to get to (distb bolt), to adjust by previous owner.
I still think poor gas in tank.

The lock bolt is on the base of the passenger side of the distributor. If i remember correctly its a 15mm. When you finally do find it, you'll need a U-jointed ratchet extension. Make sure before you go turning the distributor, you dissconnect the ECT wire. (its the brown and yellow wire that sticks out of the weather packing on the passender side of the firewall).

Do you guys actually set your timing that way? Sure it's cheap........but a timing light will be much more accurate. :shrug:

Timing

Hey I had a timing problem and it turned out to be Jumped timing chain. You may want to check that if adj of distr does not fix problem.
