3.4 swap
If I swap to a 3.4, I can keep everything pretty much right. I plan on buying some performance parts for my 89 2.8L probly before the swap. What performance parts will work that I could keep for the 3.4 when I get it. I think I could keep dynomax or flowmaster exaust, and a 2030 cam. Also would this swap need a new computer. Any other advice I would be happy to know too. Thanks my fellow thirdgen homies

exhaust will swap, no need for the 2030 cam, keep 3.4 injectors, keep origonal ecm. search for KED85's 2.8-3.4 swap boogie. do some searches on this.
FROM ONE THAT STOLE YOUR 1995 ENGINE! (I have a'95 3.4 in my Firebird),
Really do the search.
IT's almost all there (information)
Read the thread, several times, to find the answers.
NOW IS THE TIME
to rebuild ignition
hop up exhaust
make TRANNY PERFECT (it'll blow, almost promise! Every swap person has had theirs go, too. Including ME! The one lone stick person blew his old clutch set up!)
Do fuel system checks and new pump (if needed).
Your foundation will be excellent for the LONG TERM usage of your car.
My Firebird just turned on the body 113,000
Motor turned 44K miles.
New tranny.
I've got many happy miles to go
You will too, IF you pay attention to ALL the details.
PS it took me about a YEAR to sort out any remaining weak systems. Like Fuel, Tranny, Cooling and MAS stuff. I already rebuilt ignition. Lot of problems were previous owner "Mechanic repairs-JOKE".
If you're out in LA, I'll give ya a ride. Fast RS & I "raced" a Z-28 a while back & I was easy over him at 100 or so.
The high speed from 80 to 100+ is great.
Torque is KING!
What gears ya got?
I have 3:42 & it leaps from a light!
It's very much fun to drive in LA traffic. I tried NOT to be the fastest (I have V-8 cars for that), just dead reliable, quick blown engine repair job & pass CA smog.
I created a wonderfully balanced ride.
You will be very pleased if you do this swap, CORRECT AND RIGHT.
This Firebird is my favorite ride now.
Oh yeah, the "2030" cam is the cam in the 3.4.
Get a GM Performance Parts Book to read all the details of the internals of a 3.4.
SO WORTH THE $6! Available at ANY GM dealer.
