Hey SSC, Calling SSC!!

How do you like the Powertrax?
Did you install it?
How is the performance in the real world?
Including snow (LOL!! noting where ya live).
How much did it cost and the vendor you used?
THANKS

Im shocked to see a shout out for me in the V6 board

I like the powertrax system, it's allright in the snow as far as traction is concerned. I dont drive my cars in the snow very often. It works great on a full ballz out take offs. My car use to go sideways real easy and now it stays fairly centered. I got the kit through summit back in feb 00 and used it with a 3:73 in my camaro. It sat since dec00 until a few months back. I think I paid around $450 at the time. Install is fairly easy the instructions help quite a bit. I only had to shim it once. The only thing I dont like about it is if I take a cormer really tight and am not accelrating it will make a small pop, Im told everyone gets that also.
I really like the Auburn Gear unit I put in my 76 PU. If I had to choose between PT and AG posi differentials I would go with AG. Thier posi's make no noise turrning corners because they allow a bit more slippage. AG are a heck of a lot easyer to insatll also. Ive also heard that Eaton is now making a killer differential that is supposed to blow PT and AG out of the water but I dont know anyone with one to compare to.

From one that has Posi "click"
Go to GM & get a bottle of their Posi FLuid and put it inthe differntial.
THANKS FOR THE REAL WORLD EVALUATION.
I do so like the idea of this Powertrax.
It "read" real easy to install.
Kinda hard to swallow $450 for something I can put into my hand.
I mean, my 3.4 cost me twice that much!
And I had my tranny done for $200 more ($650).
Luckily, I do have the perfect gear ratio, already.

When I first got the box in the mail I was like, Uh ok wheres the rest???? Its smaller than a 6pack of dr pepper bottles.

The 1st time I had it with the 3:73's I used the GM limited slip fluid. I dident help. The mobile 1 sythetic gear oil is much quiter although I dont think it is reccomended for posi. Ehh :lala: I just dont take my foot off the gas completely when cornering.
Do you have 3:42's? If so I would defenetly go with a posi especially with that wild 3.4.

I can't wait to play with the rear.
I KNOW WHAT YA MEAN ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE PACKAGE.
That stuff didn't help quiet it down, huh?
That's all I hear about the powertrax is the clicks
and how easy to install
and how effective a posi is!
Yeah, I'm anxious to play.
I want to bring my Bro-in-Law to Carlsbad Drag strip & play one day.
I owe my Bro-in-Law big time!
