When was the last time u changed your emissions canister filter?
If your interested in changing it all you need to do is remove the can and turn upside down it just kinda sits in there. Replacing it every 2-3 years helps you keep from frying up the purge valve.

If your talking about the canister in the fron of the car, drivers side than its not serviceable. They usually last 150,000 miles before they are full.

Full of what?
Sorry.
On my 1974 Corvette, it's never been touched. Still there & still original and I passed the last CA smog with it, also. I have 135,000 miles on the car, too.
On my Firebird?
I'll never touch it.
Doubt if I'll ever have to either.
Never touched the one on my 85 S-10 Blazer truck and it's got 211,500 on it. Passed my last smog test, too.
IF it's full, do I shake it or stir it?:lala:
I used "it" again, the gay male sperm cell!
Sorry.

Yeah, I've got 228,500 miles on my car, original canister.
I replaced the canister filter in '97. I had a btch of a time telling the parts guy what I needed!! Purolator made it, got it from Pep Boys. I wish I saved the part #...
I hear in some f-bodies, it cannot be changed, since it's internal to the charcoal canister. I think that only happened in the 90-up f-bodies, though.
Hey, wait; I'm NOT on my original can. The original was demolished into little tiny pieces in... uh... wow, it's been a while! Cool. That was back in April (or May?) of 1996. Damn; seems like yesterday. (sigh)

The charcoal canister is just like the filters in the fish tanks but they soak up gas vapor instead of fish waste. Some will never fill up and some will. It just depends on what condition you keep your engine in. All the the canisters that I have removed and played floor hockey with were non serviceable but if they did make a serviceable one its about time! I know dodge gets $150 a pop for thier non serviceable vapor canisters.
BTW when was the last time anyone changed the filters in thier fish tank?? They are supposed to be changed every 3 months

SSC,
The filter that can be replaced is not the charcol portion. If you were to remove the can from the car and turn it upside down there is a foam filter that gets dirty and cloged up. I think they cost like $2.00. You just pull the old one out and push the new one in. Then bolt the can back in. The charcol should never become "full". The fuel vapor is collected there and then sent to the intake as needed / available. So it prety much emptys it self. If it is full your purge valve is not working.

Did you guys know we're supposed to change our EGR solenoid filter every 25,000 miles? Neither does anyone else; and good luck finding one of those filters. It's the "back end" of the EGR solenoid... the filter's inside that end-cap. It's actually "part of" the end cap. I tried to source one a few years ago, and gave up.
