i've been told that a 3rd gen governer is set to 115mph. Aftermarket chips can get rid of those however. And the 4th gen's at 191.2? are you sure about that. Cause a 4th gen won't go 191.2, not that i konw of atleast, i do know that the last transam's i saw would reach 163, and that was a governened speed.

so once it kicks in, it just shuts off the engine??? what the hell would it do to a 5 speed manual guy like me? if the engine cuts, wont it risk making the tires lock if its in gear???
i have been slightly over 105 in my car no govoner went off, but i have an aftermarket chip so :P...

And with the aftermarket Chip it disables the gov.
Come on guys..........
4th gen V-8's have no speed limiter unles the Z rated tires were not orderd then it was set at 115mph.
My 1994 Trans Am GT went 160mph + 167mph to be exact.
4th gen V-6's had a limiter at 115mph also and some at 120mph
3rd gen V-6's are set at 115mph
Only a chip with No fuel shut off will get rid off a speed limiter.
And what 35th anniversary are you talking about? It's a 30th anniversary Trans Am.
And no 4th gen goes 170mph stock, none.

I have no after-market chip just the stock one and I have had my 1992 Firebird 3.1 up to 119mph and no fuel cut-off, no shut down, NOTHING!!! And that was before the CCAI and exhaust, not that I think it will help, just mentioning it.
