I picked up a cutlas supreme with the 3.8 liter engine, it wont pass the smog test. it fails under the co2 part of the test by like 400. any suggestions on how to fix it whould be nice I belive it is buring rich but it's not smoking.

 

Sure. Did you put a new air filter in it? Usually high CO means the air filter's dirty, and the engine isn't getting enough fresh air to make CO2. That should be all you need, since your car passed the HC levels.

Hows the back pressure on the exhaust?... Maybe plugs. PCV, crank case ventalation system...
