high stall torque converters
high stall torque converters
hey guys i was wonderin if i should get a higher stall torque converter for my car. maybe like a 2200 to a 2500. will it lower my quarter times any? i was lookin at a b&m tork master 2400. the cam i got in my bird now is a blue racer it has a 270 duration and a .443 lift . my car doesnt have much steam until about 20 to 25 mph
Do you have a Summit magazine ? They have a guide in there on how to match your torque converter to your camshaft . In the new magazine its on page 59 . I shopped around for a long time and only found like two that would fit my car and those two were to high of a stall , they would grind my camshaft down lol
i was looking at my cam and the power range is only 1500 to 4000. i dont think i would really benefit from a higher torgue converter. would it just be better if i got 3:73 gears
I don't know man , I've debated about this just like you have .lol ..I have stock 3.42 gears , I dont know if 87 has the same thing or not . But , I dont want to get 4.10s b/c I dont want it killing my top end . So the next thing would be 3.73s , I would how much that would help my car going from 3.42s to 3.73s ? ...I am ganna do some research when Im ready for it to see how much Id gain , if it would really be worth it . There is someone or some people around here that will know your gear ratio and know if it would really be worth it .OF COURSE you will see a difference but for the price of buying gears and the install .Im assuming your not doing this .I think its a pita if your not real inclined with working on a car yet like me .But is paying $400 to $600 to go from 3.42s (if thats what you have now ) to 3.73s .B/c I dont wanna pay that much and just see a .1 or .2 increase on my 1/4 you know .
