1st time shifting the auto

I was bored driving home and decided to try it.I felt alot more pull in 1st at 4k to 5k and a little more in the rest.Usually when I floor it it shifts too fast and I feel like its dragging to get going, but the car felt alot quicker off the line. One question is it bad to have the RPM's to high in 1st when I slow down from stoplight to stoplight?

Let me answer this way
You'll find out eventually!
Most automatics die after we get ahold of them.

Once in a while isn't bad; it's probably worse for your engine than the trans. Altho, you'll be heating up the trans more, and trans fluid gets killed by heat.

I'll usually manually up-shift during a race (I have the http://www.bmracing.com Megashifter, which makes it more fun), and sometimes I'll downshift to slow down for a curve, or if I'm feeling "frisky". When's the last time the trans fluid was changed?

I changed the fluid about a year ago.I'm not going to shift very much, just if I race or if see a wide open stretch driving home at night.I love the sound of the RPM's dropping driving around downtown in 1st gear,A friend of mine says it hurts my engine more than the tranny,I don't really care because I'm going to get a IROC soon.

You should be fine if you don't do it daily.

Of course it's a lot more fun when you have a 5 speed manule trany!!! I used to hate sticks until I got my '92 RS 5 speed. Now I have a lot more fun with it, and it makes it easier to climb hills.
