ideling questions need help

ideling questions need help

1. What RPM Should a typical 2.8 idel at during rest/in park.
2. what does it mean if my RPM needle jumps between 500 and 1000 RPM at rest/in park
3. and when i step on the gas car is not quick to respond does it have to do with the ideling?

Sorry I don't have an answer but a lot of people on this board have the same idling problem. Mine when it's idling regular is at 800 rpms. But it's a five speed. Sorry I couldn't help though.

mine too idles at like 800rpm... but in park its 1000

in gear its like 800 i have an auto though...

like calicamaro said check the vacumm

It should be ideling at about 750

When My car was jumping around on the tack at idle and accelerating slow I discovered that the spark plug wires had gone bad and that the spark was jumping to ground causing the tac to bounce around.

Go Out tonight in the dark and open the hood see if there are sparks jumping around in there.

I'd say I'm about 80% confident that this is your problem.
