Anyone own a V6 Firebird AND Camaro.....
Anyone own a V6 Firebird AND Camaro.....
And which one do u perfer over the other meaning VS handling, performance, speed and most reliablility. Reason is im selling my bird and thinking about a V6 camaro, YES i know i should get V8 but want a V6 thanks...
i like the style of the camaro better in my opinion, also the junkyard up here that i go to has 5 or 6 firebirds but no camaros...probably just a coincidence but made me wonder....but think they're both great cars

I have had both at the same time although they were V8's, I wanted a V6 bird but couldent find one
.
I can give you a comparison between V8 models though and it should be same excluding drivetrain.
The Camaro weighs less V6 or V8 so thats one big advantage.
The Camaro has doesent have problems with headlight motors going out (knock on wood).
As far as handling I would say there too close to call, even comparing a Z28 to a base model 305 bird.
There basicly the same car with different fenders/hood and rear clips, you could make a camaro out of a firebird or vise versa fairly easy. Looks are personal prefrence, I like the F/R clips of the camaros over the birds in general but some of the latter firebirds are PDS also.

I have an 87 Firebird. I like both designs. But I prefer the Camaro. First off they have better looking stock rims, and the GFX look better on them. However the earlier camaros with the big 3 vents nose cone(82-84) (, and cheap rims; I find the Firebird to be a much better looking car vs them.

When I bought my 92 Cam, a freind bought a 92 'bird. Same engine, roughly same milage, He had 7K less, and both manuals. I smoked him constantly. Also in the first year he had to replce alot of stuff. headlight motor, Alternator, battery and a few other things. I even had a ****load of sterio stuff in my car and still beat him.
I had an 91,000 mile 89 RS 2.8 V6 auto for a couple of months. It was slow, but I loved it.... the looks anyways. I have a 92 3.1 v6 firbird now and its alot faster even before the mods I have. Personally I think they both handled the same. The firebird's ride was alot better/smoother. I only like the firebirds of the V6 91&92 aero packaged and the aero packaged V6 90 firebirds, but I think the 89-92 RS camaros are really cool, I really miss mine. Especially if they are white or black and stored winters.
nah i think if you get a nice set of ground effects on your bird and a good set of rim its going to look better, and as for the motors going out my dad found a guy at his work that has a son that has an f-body and he figuired out how to fix them, and from what he said its really easy, i forgot how to do it but ill see if i cant get a hold of him and tell you guys about it, but i personally would rather have a bird over a camaro any day. but hey thats just my opinion.

Actually, I believe the cd (coefficient of drag) is less on the Firebird than the Camaro. The 3rd gens have a lower CD than the new 4th gens! And the lowest CD f-body of all time was the '82 Firebird Trans Am- it was designed in a wind tunnel. 'Fact, don't we have an old scanned-in-advertisement on thirdgen.org for the '82 trans am?
