ok, a while back i had the 700r4 rebuilt with the vette servo, boosted line pressure, and the guys through in a shift kit. I'm wondering however how much of the shifting part is aftermarket, such as.
1. when i roll to a stop sign, the tranny will kickdown it's gears like i'm downshifting a manual
2. the tranny will remain in OD until a tad more than half throttle on the highway
3. shifts like a motha (know i paid for that)
are the 1st two done by a standard 700r4, or were those as a result of the shiftkit? thanx in advance.

Sounds like the second part is due to a shift kit's intervention... I remember before I added my B&M 4-3 kickdown kit (really the TV sleeve, which controls line pressure), my car would kick down into overdrive after barely pressing the pedal. I hated it! I couldn't use 4th as a "driving" gear, just as a "cruising" gear. Now, with that TV sleeve in, I can almost floor the gas before it kicks down into 3rd.
I'm not quite clear on how downshifts work automatically, but it's probably due to the increased line pressure. I can hear my trans downshift when I come to a stop, but it's not very noticeable, and the car feels no different.
