Is the motor actually cranking, or is the starter just making the whirring sound?

Timing belt... we have a timing chain... do you mean the fan belt that connects all the pullies together? Sounds like Project85 is thinking the same think I am- the starter solenoid isn't kicking in. You could replace just the solenoid but it might be more cost-effective to replace the whole starter.

I just got a new starter b4 I swapped engines, The starter was in the old engien and sat for 4 months. The engine cranks, We might think that the cam broke in half.

Last month i saw 2 60* V6's with snappped camshafts. They were approx. 1997 model and both used the (now discontinued) hollow camshaft. Poor design by GM. One of the cars still ran on 3 cylinders though because it had DIS.

I'm sure it could happen in our cars but i doubt it.

did the bodies magically morph into geo metro or festivas? 3cy suck except for bikes, snowmobiles & jetskis.
