I am mother-f'ing jealous!!!!! That's as shiny as my car looked, back in '97. (sigh) What a shame! Looks good, dude! Did you do any wet sanding between coats? Are you slapping a clear coat on there? It might be worth it, just to protect the hood and front bumper. I have so many little chips in my hood, that I know a clearcoat would've protected. The clear would've chipped, not the paint.

Are you bothering with that flex additive for the front/rear bumpers? I've seen cars that got the flex additive with a professional paint job, and they still crack if the front bumper's hit.

I think I'll go look for a "how to paint your car" book tonight! Harbor Freight sells a $65 no-name gravity feed gun (link is http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=43430 ) that might do the job for me. Does it look anything like yours?

Congrats on the job!!

Next friday I'm going to wet sand the orange peel out.Nope no sanding between coats. All I did was put a very light coat on then let it sid for 5 min. Then a thicker coat and then let sit for 10 minutes. And kept doing that until I got 8 coats of paint. I'm not going to a clear coat on my car. I'm putting the flex additive in my paint for the bumpers, I think what it helps is when the urathane heats up and expands and contracts so the paint wont crack and spiderweb. Everyone told me to put it on them so I will when I paint them.

WHAT A SUPERB WORK OF ART!!!
Did you keep refilling the HLVP paint can or have a continuous feed of paint?
You should be VERY PLEASED.
You should be VERY PROUD OF YOUR EFFORTS.
Your paint job turned out superb!

LOL Wayne . Karl I had to refill the can, But I was suprised when I got to my fifth coat and the shine started to really show. A truck that I helped to paint last summer came out with a dull shine and orange peel from heck. So this time I mixed the paint with a little more laquer and thinner than the instructions suggested.
