Intake Air Temperature Sensor

I'm working on a CAI so I pulled the plug on the intake air temperature sensor, I think... it's the one on the air canister. After the car warmed up, the check engine soon light popped on so I pulled over and plugged it back in and it ran fine... What do I do with this sensor when I setup the CAI? Does this sensor need to be grounded or anything? Should I just thread a whole in the new pipe I’m using and stick it in? Can I leave it outside the pipe and just attach it to the frame or something?

Thanks,
Steve

You need the Temp. sensor to stay inside the air tube someplace, if you put it in the engine compartment it will read wrong. If your Temp. Sensor is bad get a new one.

It doesn't have to be in the tube... altho that's certainly better. When I did my ram air intake, I didn't feel like extending wires or drilling holes- so I removed the sensor from the air box, and "hung" it near the filter. As long as the sensor reads the temp of air going into the engine, it'll be fine. (As in, you don't want to hang the sensor near the hot exhaust, or the hot engine block, or the hot radiator.)
