what does "sleeper" mean
basically means to hide the true potential of a car... for instance... driving around a car that looks like a ****box.. but really has a real strong motor unde the hood... so that when people look at ya they think ur slow.. u race.. and u stomp them ...
opposit would b .. 2 b all show and no go.. meanin all bout da looks and no power to back it up...

don't ya think the sound of the .641 in. cam would give that car away...
imagine....ur wagon with side exaust pipes going budabudabuda-boom, budabudabuda-boom. Not to mention a tubbed rear end with dragslicks and wheelie bars. but...i'd like it. P.s. to camaro hunter D, where are u going to locate the intercoolers that it'd be seen from the outside of the car?

I like to go with the stock or slighly above stock look....that way they see your car and are like well, it is 14 years old...I can take it, then you BEAT there ****......super rusted out sleepers give us a bad name, ricers hate that they get beat and make fun of the **** body....so all in all, i would just make the car look stock.
i donno i would much rather have a car thats all show and all go rather that a crappy lookin car with a aw4esome motor, why not have a car that looks awesome and performes like whoa! but that just my opinion

Monkie,
there was a time when u did belong on this board, providing valuable information to the topics. But, you have done now what so many other people i know have done, which is to simply trade up. The "true" enthusiast is willing to finds a vehicle to drive based on certain characteristics, not trading up/down to a vehicle simply because it's faster. If someone was to come up to me and offer a free 2002 Mustang Cobra, (the one that's 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds) i'd take the car...then sell it, and buy myself a TTA, and use the left over for modifcations. But the difference is that i'm loyal to the cause, not the benedict arnold of the crew or the judas priest.

Sell out with the V6 idea yes...Plans for the 92 Camaro are LT1, T56, Ford 9" rear end, Z06 wheels, and a full exhaust. Then it will turn into a daily driver for my dad while his weekend beauty (2003 black vert Cobra) sits in wait. Me myself will be looking at a T76 turbo with hopefully 20+PSI. Sorry guys but if you want more power the 60* V6 just aren't gonna cut it.

i would much rather have a 300hp v6 than a 300hp v8.. anyone can build a v8.. it takes alot more to do the same with a performance v6.. just finding the parts is a mission in itself..

i like that idea of sleeper... thats what i have been planning to do to my car(a quick 6 cyl engine...[3.4L supercharged] and putting on my winshield something to the effect of me having only a 6 in it so people will race me) ...hey "sleeper" on the winshield would be cool to have even though if you do that it wouldnt be a sleeper anymore but whatever

Monkie, you used to post usefull info.. USED TOO. Then you went and got "your dream car" a *uckin Rustang. Yes now your car will beat mine. No doubt. But after a rebuild and I start pushin 20 PSI whatcha gonna do then? Pony gonna run away? If your dream car was always a rustang why did you ever buy a camaro?... Oh and you paid 17-18K for that rustang... I paid about 9K for my camaro 3 years ago, and will have around 800 in this turbo project. so lets say 12K, after I am done... And that will whip your rustang A$$...
A last message.. go to the Rustang boards and just leave this one.
LOL you amuse me. 1: MY rustang as you call it is a Cobra, which means I can get my money out of it. Something you wouldn't know about. 2: It will get way more heads to turn than your 3rd gen will ever. 3: I get way more respect then you ever will. 4: While your car was produced in the masses mine is a limited edition.
Hunter dont threaten me with a threat you cant back up. IF you get this project you have built and running. I would love to see you push 30psi.
Dream on pal, I dont know anything short of a twin turbo Supra running that much boost. You will tear that little engine of yours up. Put all that work into your 60* V6 to make 300hp. Son, I had more than 300hp stock. Now I am hunting LS1s and beating them. So I think you have a LONG ways until you can start threatening me cause I know for a fact this is one rustang you will never beat with that car of yours.

hehe, this is getting interesting. 300hp with a small v6 engine isn't that far fetched, heard of people doing it with a 3.4L running a turbo and about 10lbs of boost, the little 2.8L will need a tad more boost than that one of urs, but eh, it's all good. How much horsepower did the 99 cobra have from the factory, cant' really remember. I do recall one of the later years having a rated 320 hp and actually getting numbers = to GT stangs.
thought those were funny as hell, and a bunch of people turned around being pissed off, i do remember seeing dyno tests for a 2000 T/A non ram-air with the 305 hp rated engine, was getting 292 to the rear wheels, what makes it even funnier is that the vette was getting 288 or something. But yeh, back to the mustang, one mroe question, how does it feel to take those corners sitting 5 feet in the air? just curious, i can definately remember what it feels like riding in a mustang,gt, and cobra, more like sitting in a camry than a sports car. i.e. the reason my mommy wants one. think the grandma too. so yeh, u might have more than 300hp, but probably not to much more.

Actually I have a 3.1.... Boring to 3.2 on rebuild. And using a 2mm shorter crank to lower comp and have plenty of room to boost away after that... And 300 is the begining goal... tuning plan on getting 350-375... hell maybe even nos at lower PSI's...
Sorry but yes I know I can more readily get more power from a V8.. But guess what? I DO NOT WANT ONE!. And my v6 handles great for being 11 years old!...
(and monky I know how to build a turbo motor) Sorry to say.

yea i do not know how sick you ae of hearing it but how many time has someone smack in your ear that they are gonna put a 350 and a th350 in what ever car.
ohhhh exciting like that has not been done a million times.
only two choices, v6 or big block. nothin in between is even worth while.
but a true sleeper is very plain, not one thing to make you even think performance but maybe a louder than normal tone.
like a 84 plain jane 4 banger with the 1.4l on the bumper aro/bird no wing, complete base bone stock inside and out. but then wedge a 400 under the stock hood.
