I'm guessing there is a good reason not to put the same size Corvette wheels all the way around? I'd like to be able to rotate my tires.

 

no reason your cant, its just that vettes come with staggered wheels and different widths, thats usually what comes in a set when you buy them

by all means, but 4 of the same wheels and tires, it wont hurt anything

 

I'll be running 18x10.5 wheels front and back. I'll be picking them up Sunday afternoon.

 

That's the size I want. I found a killer deal on some ZR1 wheels, but there are limited tire options for the rear
Those would be the only staggered wheels that I would have run.

I have front C5 replica wheels, 17 x 8.5, at all four corners. Option of rotating tires is why I did it. By the way, tires ar 245 45 zr17. I will post some pics later. Dean

 

Limited??? There are a lot of tires that fit a 17x11 wheel. You just have to be prepared to get out the hammer and maybe welder to make them fit.
Staggered??? Would you be planning 17x9.5 in front and 17x11 in back? I say keep things the same all around or you will never be able to rotate them. That's one of the things I hate about the stock wheels... you can't rotate them and if you have directional tires, you can't even swap sides without it being a big hassle.
I won't have the wheels bolted onto the car for a while, but I may be able to put them in the wheel wheels were they will probably be sitting just for some pics.

Mahhh... those are baby wheels.
If I change wheels on any vehicle it has to be for a reason, and not just because it is different. It has to serve a purpose (like wider rubber for needed traction) otherwise it seems to be a waste of money that could go towards the motor or something. Maybe I just think this way because of the really tight budget I'm on...

Maybe it's just me, but why do people only post the diameter? That doesn't mean much... people have already fit 20" wheels on these cars without issues. It's the width that makes it mean something. I mean, to play dumb I would now be assuming those people have 2D wheels which means they have no (conventional) tires. Same thing angers me when people post the style of wheel I'm looking for in a sale ad, but they only give the diameter. The width of the wheel is probably thee most important measurement of a wheel. In my opinion, it is has the largest impact on tire selection, and on available traction. What I also don't understand is that when I later e-mail people asking for the width I often have to ask 3 or 4 times before they finally answer me, and often times they never do... they just keep giving me the diameter.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not posting this to flame LarryL's post. I'm posting this because when people talk about rotating wheels/tires, wheel width and backspacing become major factors. I mean, with a giant hammer and some effort, you can make 11" fit in the back of these cars, but getting an 11" to fit in front is going to be pretty difficult without insane amounts of tire rub. The other thing is the C5 corvette itself came with 3 different style of wheels. The wagon wheels, the thin spoke wheels, and the Z06 wheels. The all also came in two different diameters (17 and 18) and three different widths (8.5, 9.5 and 10.5).

 

I agree 100%. I had to e-mail someone on Craigslist 3 times to get the width. I finally got him to send me a pic of the inside of the wheel with the measurements. They were 18x9.5 polished for $60 for the pair.

 

I did not post a size because from my experience they all fit with stock (vette)tires and 2" adapter. I don't believe in choping or hammering up the car for a set of wheels and tires. The only issue (I have seen)is the rear wheels left to right clearances. Sometimes the rear is off as much as 2" to one side, so you must be careful with 275/40/18. Do a search there is plenty on this. The sidewall size can change the whole setup and look. On my 84 TA I have 265/35/18 front and 285/30/18 back. I did not like the steam roller look in the back. On my 69 camaro I run the 17/18 stock zr tire setup it looks great IMO. If you run ZR tires they must be installed in the rotational direction in which the tire turns, so you can't switch left to right side with remounting the tires. There is another thing which has nothing to do with fitment its tread design. The tread design can change the look of the car also and the driving noise. I know a lot of people go for width, if its just for looks its your call, IMO if you get too much traction with our usless (for power) rears you tear them apart.
