Vibration while driving.. Please Help

When I am on the freeway going a little over 65 mph, i get a little vibration. It almost feels like its coming from the trans or driveshaft. I have brand new wheels and tires and also new suspension. I also have a brand new front end. I had this problem even before i installed the new wheels and tires and suspension. Any ideas on where it could be coming from?

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

could be an imbalanced wheel, imbalanced driveshaft, bad trans mount, rotor or drum balancing issue caused by damage or excessive wear/rust

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

agree with above, could be all of those....
but I would bet my car it's the driveshaft....do a search on it, you should find info on before and after results of people with vibrations and changing driveline out.

What it is.....if you have the factory steel driveline, it wobbles at freeway speeds or higher...it's a design issue. one of the magazines, like hot rod, chevy power, or someone (can't remember now) did an article and show how the driveline flexes on a machine. You can't balance it or do anything about it....except replace it.

now the good news, the replacements are cheap and direct bolt in.....get an aluminum driveline out of a thirdgen, of even easier, buy one from a 4th gen....they all are the same. You should be able to pick up up, off like ebay, for around $100. Install that and I promise your vibrations will go bye bye.

plus it's stronger and lighter than the factory steel line, which is a performance boost (even a small one is good)

nice looking car by the way.

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

I had the same thing till I got under it. U joint strap was loose. Still have a small vibration and I expect drive line balance. Same thing with my mustang. After putting new tires on it; still a vibration. I got a ford racing aluminum D/S and its smooth now.

The guy I went to with my mustang D/S wanted only $20 less then Ford Racing just to balance miine. Your best bet is to take it off and let a shop spin it up. Be well informed about the prices of new upgraded drive shafts so u dont fix a junk shaft for the same price as a nice one like I almost did.

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

the problem with spinning a steel camaro shaft on balancer, is no load, and not fast enough....so it could show balanced, but flex when on car...

We charge $90 to balance shafts at my work.....to give you idea of price....

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

I have this issue too. At about the same speed the whole car will shake for a few seconds, and then it goes away for a few seconds, and then it comes back for a few seconds, etc. I was thinking driveshaft as well. So a fourth gen is a direct fit with no mods?

Re: Vibration while driving.. Please Help

I have this same issue as well. It started after I swapped out my rearend and added a new PBR setup. I noticed one of the rotors is a little warped but could that cause a vibration? I wondering if it's something in the posi unit cause there was no vibration before the swap.
