I recently bought 17 x 9 4th gen SS wheels, it seems that many refer to these as 9.5" but the rims say 17x9J 50. Are these 9.5 or 9"?? Either way i want spacers, the offset was listed as 50mm. I have not personally verified this yet. Assuming it to be correct, i understand that according to the Skulke web site i need 2" spacers.

Question #1 do the wheels "tuck" nicely with the 2"? I don't want them sticking out or hitting the fender lip, i intend to lower the car and i need all the suspension travel i will have left (NYC roads suck!)

Question #2 I have corvette brake parts and intend to do the conversion in the next year. This adds at least the thickness of the vette rotor to the 2" spacer. i don't recall if the hub i need to make is a different size, i seem to remember needing to machine a 1LE rotor into a hub, but i don't remember. Will i need a thinner spacer, say 1 3/4" ? Can i use this spacer until i get the new brakes? can i run it in the rear until then? Will i have any problems?

I mounted 2002 Camaro SS wheels on my car but decided against them. I used a 2 inch spacer front and back and had no problems except for the exhaust behind the right front tire(it rubbed on full lock). But that wasn't that big of deal I just liked the 15 inch Z28 wheels better and they don't rub.

Thanks, were they 17 x9 ? did you have 275/40 tires? lastly, did they tuck in or were they close to the fenders? I would like to go to a thinner adapter on one axel in preparation for my corvette brake upgrade, any input on that?

 

Yes they were 17X9 wheels with 275/40 tires. They were tucked in a little bit so I don't think I would go any narrower then the 2 inch spacers. Don't know about the vette brakes, Sorry. Good luck.

i have 18x9 50mm offset w/ 255/40

i originally had 2" adapters but when i dropped the front the fender was tearing into the tire so i switched to 1.5" adapters with only some rub at full lock.

havent dropped the rear yet.

 

UDAMON were did you get those headlights those are sick man?

 

The vette rotor will move wheel out an additional .300 or 5/16". When I did my C5 brake conversion, I used regular camaro hubs, machined to fit the vette rotors. So you don't need the 1LE hubs. My front spacers are 1.700. I Have C5 thin spoke wheels and they are about 3/16" from the tie rod end. So if the vette rotor was removed the wheels would rub, then I would need the 2" spacer. I don't know how the vette wheels compare to the 4th gen 's. Hope this helps, Dean

Front are 17 x 8.5 , rear are 18 x 9.5.

 

What was the bracket thickness you used for the C5 brakes? I have C4 HDs and want to do the conversion BEFORE i buy spacers (my factory stuff has been idle for 5 years and is badly corroded). My understanding is that i NEED 1LE hubs and 1/2" thick brackets. I'm fine with the 1/2" i was just hoping i could switch the thinner front spacers to the back until i got to do the brakes. With the 1LE hubs and C4 HD rotors you move the wheel 5/8" outboard, so i should need a 1 3/8" spacer. With standerd hubs you state 1.7" spacers, which should work on the rear axel until i can finish the conversion.

Does anyone know if the 50mm offset 4th gen 9" wheel will fit on the back with a 1 3/8" spacer? If so i can order now and get my car drivable. If not i'll have to wait since i'm almost positive 1 3/8" will not work in the front until i convert to the C4 HDs with 1LE hubs

 

The brackets for the C5 conversion are 1/2" thick. As I said above the C5 brake conversion uses standard camaro hubs with the rotors machined off. I think the 1.7" spacers should work on the rear with the C5 wheels. Can't say about the 4th gen wheels, no experience with them. Dean

You should verify the offset. I have 17x9 '01 SS wheels and they have a +46mm offset.

 

I have the SS wheels too. You measure offset from the mounting surface to the centerline? Right?

 

Correct, However, the offset is marked on the backside of one of the spokes along with the diameter and width.

the offset is 50mm. still up in the air on spacer thickness. a 35mm spacer with my brakes should put me in the same place as 51mm (2") spacers and stock brakes. no one can tell me the minimum thickness that will work with stock brakes front and rear. its geting frustrating!
