running goodyear gs-c eagles

I read on a motortrend review that the goodyear eagle gs c originally
introduced on the c4 corvette has a disadvantage in that it can
only be run on one side of the car and that with the different sized
tires front and rear cause this vette to have four different tires

question
can these gsc's be run on a 3rdgen
with all four tires matching in size with matching treads?
i mean the same tire all the way around

Re: running goodyear gs-c eagles

Why are you asking? The GS-C's are not made anymore, and even if they were they are much worse than a whole lot of other available tires out there.

As far as can you run 4 of the same as in a GS-C tire, no you cant. Not only are they directional, but the treads were offset to one side and were intended to be run on a specific side.

thanks for responding madmax
please look at the pictures on the thread called
sold ronal with goodyear gsc's updated
sorry i havent learned how to link yet on this site

of course i know about these tires and the tread design
the offset tread and that they are directional
the point i was making is

can i run the same tire on all four corners like he has them set up?
i see your point i searched gsc on the web and clicked on the motortrend review it states the problem that you can only run this tire on one side of the car
I am completely in the dark when it comes to this subject
i just want to buy the rims unfortunately these tires are mounted on them
and it seems to me they are ok except maybe he is selling them because
he may have made a mistake in mounting these gsc eagles the way he did
just looking for some clarity

Re: running goodyear gs-c eagles

If the wheels have 4 rights or 4 lefts, you've got a problem. They need to mounted correctly, rights on the right side, lefts on the left side. But like Madmax said, Goodyear is the best name in garbage tires. All those performance tires that were so common and original equipment on a bunch of mid-late 80's up into the mid-late 90's domestic performance cars, were crap. Goodyears are great if you want to make people think your car is fast by doing massive burnouts, because they don't stick to the ground under anything but absolutely optimal condition.

I've had Gatorbacks, GSC's, RS-A's, and even now I've got a pair of Goodyears on the back of my Mustang. Funny, because they're original equipment off a 92 Mustang 5.0. Also funny because I got them for free and I hate them. The weatherchecked, almost bare, Firestone touring tires on the 10-holes I removed stuck to the ground MUCH better. If I'm going around a corner, or driving past a car wash where cars have been dripping all over the ground, they ALWAYS break loose at the wrong time. With 2.73 gears and turbocharger lag, they should NEVER break loose.

Dump the Goodyears as soon as you can. I like BFGoodrich and Firestone, but just about anything is better then Goodyear's finest.

I have 1 brand new (never mounted) 275/40-17 GSC if anyone is interested. I will have to see what side it is... I think it is a right side.

The ad pictures appear to have correctly mounted tires. Only concern I would have is they are probably fairly old.

yeah I am no longer interested in purchasing these wheels
he said he would sell them to me but changed his mind after
I started showing concern about these tires and his lack of
original Ronal hardware-
the thing is they mounted them correctly
but they were not designed for this set up
and I told him in the beginning
that I really did not like Goodyears-
I guess I was just bargaining to get the wheels
no worries I have a set of firehawks already
and another set without rubber may just
become available again on 3rdgen-

there was one thing I was wondering
and that is why he even mounted or even purchased those tires
and if he knew afterwards it was a mistake and he was just trying
to unload them so he didnt have to pay for his mistake
by having to pay even more money to take them off the rims
